Significance of the mantra 'Vakratunda Mahakaya'

Shree Vakratunda Mahakaya is the most popular Ganesh mantra, which is used to invoke the blessing of Lord Shree Ganesh. Among the many mantras of Ganesh the most popular chanted by Hindus is Vakratunda Mahakaya. This mantra describes Lord Ganesh having a curved trunk, a huge body, and the splendor of a million suns. It is also believed by the Hindus that Lord Ganesh is a god who removes all the obstacles from our life. It is even considered that Shree Vakratunda Mahakaya is among the most loved prayer of Lord Ganesh himself.

श्री वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्य कोटी समप्रभा

निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्व-कार्येशु सर्वदा।।

Shree Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha

Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryeshu Sarvada ||

Meaning: - "O lord with the twisted trunk, with the effulgence of a billion suns, always remove the obstacles when I am on an auspicious undertaking."

According to Hinduism there is a mantra for every work that we do or start with, form the time our day begins to time we sleep. These Sanskrit mantras basically help to develop our cognitive function. Chanting or meditating on these mantras can help you improve memory and cognition and you may even find a drastic change in your bodily energy.

Chanting of these Vedic mantras has many hidden physical benefits. Mantras put pressure on your tongue, lips, vocal chords, thus stimulating the hypothalamus gland, which is responsible for balancing the immunity of the body. Mantras also help to slow down the process of breathing helping the regulation of heart breath. The repetitive chanting of these Vedic mantras thus helps in calming the mind which further helps to reduce the stress levels, which indirectly host most of the health issues.

Here I would end up saying that the way, The Gayatri Mantra, helps the chanter enlighten his mind and improve intelligence, similarly the Vakratunda Mahakaya give the chanter the blessings from Lord Ganesh to clear his obstacles, and find a new way to his life.
