Addiction

Addiction is a mental and physical inability to stop consuming a chemical, drug, activity or substance, even though it is causing mental and physical harm. In such cases a person is addicted to some behaviour. Addiction is a chronic disease that can also be caused by taking medication.

There are other things beyond drugs that people are addicted to, such as fast food, Internet gaming, sleep, sex, place etc. When you think of addictions, images of empty bottles of illicit drugs or whiskey are likely to come to your mind. Millions of people have developed dependencies outside of drugs and alcohol, from food to video games.

Addiction is when the body or mind wants or needs something to function properly. When we are addicted to something, it is called addiction or being addict. People may become addicted to drugs, cigarettes, caffeine, alcohol, and much more.

Addiction involves having a strong desire for something, losing control over its use, and continuing participation despite the adverse effects. Addiction changes the brain, first by distorting the way it reports pleasure and then corrupts it in other common drives, such as learning and motivation.

Many people consider that some addictions are healthy.

Myth: It’s a healthy addiction to do things like exercise, a healthy diet or work. And then addictions like drugs, alcohol and even gambling are bad addictions. Truth: Any substance or behaviour without which you can’t leave is actually a bad addiction.

Simply put, addiction is never a good thing.

Check your self are you addicted to something, good or bad does not matter. And remember there is a very thin line between habit and addiction.
